This is a non-original MB-D10 vertical battery grip built for the Nikon D300, D300s and D700. It gives you a second shutter button and control dial so you can shoot comfortably in vertical orientation, and a tripod screw hole on its base keeps the camera steady during longer sessions. It works with one EN-EL3e/EN-EL4a/EN-EL4 battery or 8 AA-size cells, though no batteries come in the box — just the grip itself.
